The Harnish Foundation was established in 2005 by members of the Harnish family. In addition to their philanthropic work, the family has operated a business dating back to 1929 when the company was founded in Sidney, Montana. Over the years, the company’s geographic reach has expanded to include Alaska, as well as areas of Washington, Montana, North Dakota, and Wyoming. The Harnish family remains deeply committed to giving back to the communities that have supported the business for nearly a century.
The Harnish Foundation’s goal is to champion non-profit organizations that empower individuals to take responsibility and initiative for their own well-being. This philosophy is best captured by the well-known proverb – “Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day. Teach a person to fish and you feed them for a lifetime.”
